Garden Area

At Bumble Bees Day Nursery, we believe that outdoor experiences are essential for healthy development in the early years. We also believe in the principle that any indoor activity can be taken into the outdoors such as reading, circle time, story time, painting and so on. Children benefit so much from being outside; breathing in fresh air and being around trees /plants.

We consider ourselves very lucky to have a large, open outdoor space within the nursery. We have recently undertaken a significant landscape project to improve our garden area.

Feedback was taken from children and families as to what we should include. There was a huge focus on having a slide and a sizeable sand pit which we incorporated. A number of children and parents also suggested having a small hill and we were able to incorporate this also.

The children love playing in the mud kitchen and this area promotes a great deal of collaborative imaginary role play.

Our garden area continues to be used in a range of creative ways to put children in touch with nature. For example, our minibeast area where we promote the habitat of interesting insects such as beetles for the children to learn about.
